Mumbai: Despite a lukewarm year with Awarapan and Dhokha, the Bhatt camp is ready to release another film with newcomers in the lead. Monday Nov 26 6:35 PM
This time, the movie promises to reveal the entertainment industry's darker side.
The Bhatt camp is ready with a low-profile film about reality TV called Showbiz.
So far, the film's promotion, too, has been kept low profile, but Mahesh Bhatt is certain that their strategy will pay off.
In fact, he uses a slightly controversial reference to prove his point.
"Saawariya went on to prove that no matter how much you spend or hard sell a film, collections won't translate to success unless you have a good film," he says.
"We believe that our tactic will work because the film refers to a relevant story. We have limited marketing budgets and we don’t need to change track,” adds the veteran filmmaker.
Starring new comer, Tushar Jalota, Showbiz is Raju Khan's directorial debut.
Tushar plays a winner on a reality music contest, who is pawned for personal benefits by the channel bosses. Mrinalini Sharma, first seen in Bhatt flick Awarapan, also stars in the film.
The actors too don't seem to be concerned about their quiet launch. "If I have to take on big stars, I will have to do it anyway. So why don't I do it now?,” asks Tushar.
Mrinalini adds, "The Bhatt’s have consciously awarded new talent. So why should I worry? The film is relevant, so I am assured that it will make a mark.”
With music by Jatin Pandit, the film releases in the last week of December, just after biggies like Halla Bol and Taaren Zameen Par appear on the big screen.
So while the Bhatt team is impressive, we will have to wait awhile to check out whether a reality TV-based film actually registers anywhere on the audience's radar.
