The problem of plenty has been something our actors have been happy about but it is only the producers who find themselves in a fix in such situations.
It isn’t the money we are referring to but the movies that are releasing. It is often a problem for the producers when two movies of the same actor is released during the same weekend.
Jeyam Ravi and Bharath are the two actors finding themselves in the midst of this quagmire of sorts. Jeyam Ravi’s action-thriller Dhaam Dhoom directed by Jeeva, who passed away during the filming of this movie, is ready for release and the producers want to release it for Pongal as it has already been delayed enough due to unforeseen incidents. Meanwhile, his home production Santosh Subramaniam directed by his brother Raja is also nearing completion and will be ready for a Pongal release. This has led the producers of Dhaam Dhoom to approach the Producer’s Council seeking permission to release their movie for Pongal and postpone the release of Santosh Subramaniam so that the revenues aren't affected.
Bharath on the other hand is facing similar problems with his Pazhani and Nepali, both gearing up for a Pongal release. Bharath insists that they release both the films for festive season while the producers think they might end up losing their money. They cite the Veyil and Chennai Kadhal incidents as examples wherein Chennai Kadhal ended up biting the dust while Veyil was a hit.
