Deepika Padukone has proved that she is not just a pretty face on the ramp. With her film, Om Shanti Om, opposite Shah Rukh Khan, the debutante has proved that she can more than hold her own, even opposite the Badshah.

Following the success of Om Shanti Om, the actress has now signed by Rohan Sippy and Nikhil Advani for her next movie. She has been cast opposite none other than Akshay Kumar, whose popularity ratings are second to none, at home and specially abroad. Sippy confirmed that he has signed Deepika for his next film, which will go on the floors by January next year. Like everyone else who has been raving about her looks, her poise and her talent, Sippy too feels that she is an amazing actress and that there is a lot of potential there to be tapped. After having the good fortune of working opposite SRK in her first film, Deepika now gets a chance to work with Akshay Kumar, the 'King of Overseas.'The other young female debutante, Sonam Kapoor too seems to have struck gold with Rakesh Mehra's Dilli 6 opposite Abhishek Bachchan.
