New Delhi: ‘Sanjay Dutt gets bail’ seems like an old headline from last month’s newspaper but unfortunately for the Dutt family this headline keeps recurring.Wednesday Nov 28 12:45 PM
Dutt has seen many ups and downs in his career and personal life, but the past four months were the most exhaustive for him not because of his jail sentence but the uncertainty of his future.
Ever since Dutt was awarded a six-year sentence by the Supreme Court on July 31, 2007 his fate, much like a Bollywood potboiler, kept twisting and turning and he has been in and out of jail more frequently than ever.
On August 2, 2007, Dutt was moved from Arthur Road jail in Mumbai to the Yerwada Jail
On August 20, 2007, the Supreme Court granted him interim bail and Munna Bhai was out on August 23.
This proved to be much needed breather for Dutt as he found time to be with his family for the book release of Mr and Mrs Dutt: Memoirs Of Our Parents written by his sisters Priya and Namrata. Meanwhile his film Dhamaal released on September 7.
Dutt again found himself back behind bars on October 22, 2007 and it was a Black Diwali for the Dutts with him in jail.
Dutt has now got bail once again on Tuesday and is expected to be out in two or three day’s time.
However, Dutt’s frequent trips to jail have not severely affected his Bollywood career with his home production Dus Kahaniya already out and as many as 10 other films in the pipeline including the much awaited Munnabhai Chale Amerika/I>.
So the fate of all these films, as Dutt's own, remains quite uncertain.
