New Delhi: Actor Mohanlal was in the Capital on Wednesday evening for a screening of his critically acclaimed film Paradeshi.

Mohanlal, who is over 300 films old, plays an octogenarian for the first time in Paradeshi, a film on the plight of Muslims in India who feel that they belong neither to India nor Pakistan post-Partition.

“It’s a realistic story so every inch of my act had to be real and genuine. For that I worked on my body language and make-up,” Mohanlal said.

A superstar in Malayalam cinema, the actor has successfully been balancing his non-commercial films with those that have a larger mass appeal.

The actor, who made his Hindi film debut in Company five years ago, was recently seen in Ram Gopal Varma's Aag. Though, the film was a commercial and critical washout the actor takes it all in his stride.

“For me it was a good role. Also it was opposite Amitabh Bachchan. My commitment to the film industry is to portray my character to the best of my ability, so I have done justice to my role. And hence I am not disappointed,” Mohanlal reasoned.

The actor's latest Malayalam release Rock ‘n’ Roll may not have opened to good reviews down South, but then when you are a legend at 47 with over two decades of cinema behind you, success is just a state of mind.
