Mumbai: Children's films are a neglected genre in India where popcorn romances are rolled out every week as a safe bet at the box office.

However, here's a silver lining for people who love children's films. Book your tickets at the World's Kids International Film Festival which begins from November 30 and lasts for a week till December 6. The festival will feature films from across the world.

Festival Director, Manju Singh says, "We have everything from adventure to mystery to family and even fantasy. We have tried to include everything — animation films, various documentaries and I am trying to give them entertainment which is not treating them like children but like individuals."

Indian films Hede hoda, Lukha Chupi, Sunday and Halo are up for viewing at the festival, along with a number of Hollywood films.

"The basic motto of initiating children into film festivals is that we want to find young, talented filmmakers who can venture into the children's genre," says Manju Singh.

The President of the All India Association of Industries, Vijay G Kalantri adds, "Children's films are a must. I know such an initiative has been taken late, but it will soon gain in momentum. Earlier the Central Government used to do it, but nowadays, they are simply neglected."

This festival is looking at a target audience in the eight to 18 age group. The festival will also pay tribute to filmmaker Hrishikesh Mukherjee. So get ready for a very interesting collection of films coming your way.
