New York, Nov 29 (ANI): American pop singer Jessica Simpson's dad Joe played cupid between her and her new love, American Football quarterback, Tony Romo by giving the Dallas cowboy player his daughter's number.

A friend of the bubbly blonde has revealed that Tony and Joe were friends for quite sometime and the football player's affiliation for the 27-year-old singer was already known. This was enough to put things together for them.

"Joe and Tony have been friendly for a while. Joe is a huge Dallas Cowboy fan, and Tony has always had a crush on her - he even said on his Web site like a year ago that it was his dream to date her," The New York Post quoted her pal, as saying.

It was Tony who made the first move and asked Jessica's dad to give him her number.

Her friend added: "Jessica has been in Nashville and Dallas recording her new country album. When Tony found out, he called Joe and said, 'I know she's not dating anyone right now, can I take her out for a drink at least?' Jessica said it was OK for Joe to give Tony her number and they hit it off."

"They've been dating for a couple of weeks now, and Jessica is so happy. She's been texting everyone about how great he is."

The couple is so much in love these days that Romo joined the Simpsons in Waco, Texas, for Thanksgiving.

Simpson's representative declined to comment on her personal life and just disclosed the professional part of it.

"She is happily recording her country album," he said.

Romo has been linked to Carrie Underwood, Sophia Bush and an unidentified Dallas brunette. (ANI)
