Donning the role of social activist at an AIDS awareness event initiated by the United Nations and the Tamil Nadu AIDS Control Society in Chennai yesterday, actor Kamal Haasan was the cynosure of all eyes.
Addressing the gathering, Kamal said that this propaganda against AIDS was to let everyone know that they don’t have to wait for it to happen to someone close to them and then join the cause against the disease. He felt it was necessary to create AIDS awareness, amongst the public, at every level of the society.
Kamal, the astute businessman that he is known to be, didn’t let go of the opportunity to mention a few words about his upcoming Dasavatharam, one of the most-awaited projects of the year. He said that it was one of the best experiences he has ever had. Asin, the heroine in the film, attending another event held in the city as a guest also made full use of the opportunity to talk about her Dasavatharam experience. She said that it was one of the most exciting films of her career and shooting for the film was in itself a very interesting experience as she has done things never done by her before. She also added that there wasn’t a single day when she went home without a bruise or scratch on her body. She was all praise for the musical score by Himesh Reshammiya, which she claims sounds so authentically south Indian that no one would ever realize that it was a north Indian who had composed it.
Meanwhile, Kamal had also spelt out the news on the release date of Dasavatharam. He made it clear that it was not going to hit the screens in January, as there was lot of CG work to be done. So all those eager beavers, February valentine’s weekend seems to be the most probable date for its release. We only hope that they don’t stretch it to the Tamil New Year’s Day.
