Although director Sudhir Mishra and actress Soha Ali Khan are eagerly awaiting the release of Khoya Khoya Chand, the director is apparently upset that his favourite actress is out of his modern-day interpretation of Devdas.
Soha had originally been signed to play Chandramukhi in the film but now Pritesh Nandy Communications, the producers of the film, have decided to replace her, even though the rest of the cast, comprising of Shiney Ahuja and Lara Dutta will continue to play Devdas and Paro respectively. Sources close to Mishra says that the director is very upset that Soha is longer a part of the film. The director and the actress had struck a very good professional rapport while shooting for Khoya Khoya Chand. The director is believed to have said in an interview that he is very keen that Soha play the role of Chandramukhi. He is also believed to have said that he would like to work with her any time. It seems that the role of Chandramukhi has changed. She is no more an Indian in the film, hence Soha does not fit the bill. But Sudhir says that he will definitely be making another film with Soha, who is a brilliant actress, according to him. But the actress and the director are already doing another film together, Tera Kya Hoga Johnny, which also stars Neil Mukesh, Kay Kay Menon and Karan Nath. The film is about a street child named Johhny, essayed by a 13-year-old actor, Sikander. The film has been written by Mishra, Joydeep Sarkar and Pankaj Kapoor. Mishra, who was supposed to start work on Devdas immediately after Khoya Khoya Chand. But Devdas has been delayed and will only roll out in March next year. Tera Kya Hoga Johnny has just four days of shoot left and Mishra plans to start another film with his favourite actress in January.
