Mumbai: Sudhir Mishra's film Khoya Khoya Chand is a tribute to the 50s-60s Bollywood. For music director Shantanu Moitra and lyricist Swanand Kirkire who started working together with Sudhir's previous film Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi, life has come a full circle. Wednesday Dec 5 9:45 PM
It was this song from Hazaron Khwashein Aisi that worked wonders for the composer-lyricist duo Shantanu Moitra and Swanand Kirkire. Later on they went to deliver hit songs for films like Parineeta, Lage Raho Munnbhai, Eklavya and Laga Chunari Me Daag.
An association that happened accidentally when Swanand was assisting Sudhir Mishra on Hazaraoon khwashein aisi, has now come a full circle with Sudhir's ode to the golden age of Bollywood, Khoya Khoya Chand.
“What comes to my mind now is that we did not know that one day we would be doing big films. I wanted to do something else in life and he wanted to do something else. So we believe that there was a higher force, which has put us into this together,” says Shantanu Moitra, Music Composer.
Further talking about the duo, Swanand Kirkire, Lyricist-Singer says that it clicked with Shantanu. However, he adds that although it clicked with others also. “Many producers and directors approach us. They see the chemistry between us which is also favourable to them,” says Swanand.
Talking about Khoya Khoya Chand, they said that the movie was set in the era of 50's and 60's. However, the difficult part was to create the sound of that era.
“The key word for this soundtrack is that it is celebration of cinema. When we think of celebration, we have programmed 130 beats per minute. However, it has other beats too,” says Shantanu.
Khoya Khoya Chand's music has a vast range with everything from qawaali to cabaret, and to top it all, Swanand has also contributed in singing the title track.
