She could not have got a better birthday gift than getting a film released just 3 days prior to her birthday i.e. AAJA NACH LE and Konkona Sen Sharma became one of the very fortunate few from the present times who could share the frame with Madhuri Dixit. Encore of the same was found in PAGE-3 where Konkona again established herself as the actor who cannot be taken for granted and with the role that she essayed in OMKARA she established herself as an actor of consequence. The confidence of her abilities as an actor came out in impacted manner in OMKARA in the way she was able to etch the character of a village belly from the Central UP who had a disdain for whatever was happening around. Any other heroine would have thought twice before enacting the role that she did of the ugly duckling with a perpetual running nose in presence of Madhuri Dixit but she has been successful in her attempt. This was evident more so in the ballet which forms the climax of the film. The clumsy manner in which she has portrayed her character in the beginning of the film and the transformation that the character undergoes is a pointer towards a performer who is very focused in her approach towards the business of acting. Having now proved her prowess, as a dancer, and having a terrific timing for comedy it would be of interest to watch her in a full-fledged comic role. Till date, her roles have had an element of crusade written in a subtle manner and she by her performances does bring back memories of Smita Patil, and therefore advent of Konkona Sen Sharma is a good omen for the Hindi films.
