The shooting of Aayirathil Oruvan, starring Karthi and Reema Sen and directed by Selvaraghavan, has been stalled following differences between the director and the producer. The film, which had an uninterrupted shoot of 40 days in Kerala recently, is Karthi’s second film after his super-hit Paruthiveeran. With the entire unit members forbidden from using their cellphones, the film was being shot at a fast and furious pace in the Adhirampalli forests in Kerala. Sources say that Selva had initially quoted a budget of 6 crores on a first copy basis. Later, he reportedly told the producer Ravindran that the budget might go up to 8 crores. However, Selvaraghavan then stalled the ongoing shoot in Kerala, rushed to Chennai and told the producer that the final budget might be as high as 16 crores. In addition to this, unit members say that they have not been given any pay for the Kerala shoot. Following these issues, the film production has been stalled. Unit members are hoping that Selvaraghavan and Ravindran will sort out these issues at the earliest.
