Trichy, Dec.10 (ANI): Regional film actor Ajay Kumar, popularly known as Pakru, has entered the Guinness book of world records as the shortest hero leading an adult role in a commercial film for his performance in 'Adbutha Dweep' (Wonder Island).
Pakru, who stands 2 feet and 10 inches tall, was the lead actor and enacted the role of a dwarf prince in the film 'Adbutha Dweep', directed by noted film maker Vinayan.
The film, which deals with the story of dwarfs on an island following their rigid faiths, is said to have been inspired by Jonathan Swift's English classic Gulliver's Travels.
"I'm very happy as also my family, friends and all well-wishers. It was unexpected. First, we expected that this film will definitely enter Guinness book of world records but it didn't. But entering the record book was totally unexpected," said Ajay Kumar.
Pakru has also entered into the Guinness Book of World Records for being the shortest actor to play a full-length character. He is only 2ft 10 inches.
Ajay Kumar, who mad the debut with children's film Ambili Ammavan way back in 1994, is the recipient of many prestigious awards some of them include Kerala State Special award and Tamil Nadu State award.
Reena, the co-star of Ajay in this movie, is all praise for his cheerful disposition.
"I feel very happy. Ajay makes me happy and very lively by cracking a lot of jokes and makes us all alive. He is a very friendly and a lovely person," said Reena.
Ajay Kumar started his career in the film industry as a mimicry artist. He later graduated to perform full-fledged character roles. He, presently, works in television serials for small screen. (ANI)
