These were the words Bharathiraja uttered during the release of a short story titled 'Poonaigal Illatha Veedu' (House without cats) written by Chandra who is also apprenticing as an assistant to director Ameer.
While speaking at the function he reminisced his days spent in his village as a youngster and the hardships he endured. He modestly claimed that his rise in stature to that of a director is something that baffles him even today.
He recalled those days during the British Raj when people belonging to his community were considered felons and were looked down by the British. He stated that he had ambitions to become a politician, a writer, an orator and even an artist, however he’s happy to register his views using cinema as a medium. Bharathiraja also opined that Chandra's roots are similar to his and he can identify with her struggles as a writer.
The event also hosted dignitaries like directors Ameer, Karu. Pazhaniappan, Simbudevan and writers S.Ramakrishnan and Saru Nivedita and lyricists Na.Muthu Kumar and Vennila.
