Director Kabir Khan is ecstatic and he has good reason to be so. His film Kabul Express has won two trophies at the Singapore Asian Festival of Films. The only regret that the actor has is that he has been unable to go there himself as he is caught up in his second film.
Kabul Express, which stars John Abraham and Arshad Warsi, received the Best Director and the Best Foreign Press Critics Award for Best Film. It's a great honour for Kabir, who feels that it shows that his film has been able to reach an international audience. The film's soul is about how much people have in common despite coming from diverse political and geographical backgrounds, he feels. The other nominees in the category were two Chinese films, Teeth of Love by Zhuang Yu Xin and Weed by Wang Liren, and one from India, Rajesh Domalpalli's Vanaja. The director is also very thrilled about his three-film contract with Yash Raj Films. He is very greatful to his producer Aditya Chopra for standing by him like a rock during the making of Kabul Express as Kabir had received death threats for shooting in Afghanistan. Incidentally, Singapore is not the only place where Kabul Express has received accolades from. The film has garnered a lot of praise from cineastes from around the world. The film has been invited and screened at various other film festivals of the world like, the Toronto, London, Pusan and the Casablanca film festivals.
