It seems director Samy’s Mirugam will never run out of controversies. First, it was the much-publicised incident of the director slapping heroine Padmapriya. The issue was finally resolved with the Producers’ Council banning the director from working for a year.
Then, it was the issue of Censors where Samy is believed to have fought tooth and nail to get a U certificate. It was later reported in some sections of the media that the director had agreed for a few cuts but the film had been given an A certificate.
However, it turns out that the Censor Board is yet to issue a certificate. The reason for this delay is that the makers have failed to get a certificate from the animal welfare board.
The film features a 'jallikattu' scene that serves as an introduction for the hero. However, the animal welfare board is said to have some reservations for this scene.
It now seems that the makers’ decision to release the film this Friday will not materialize. The distributors are said to be unhappy with Samy for misleading them on the certification front and have decided not to release the film this week.
