The year 2007 has not been quite lukewarm for Vishesh Films. Neither Awarapan, nor Dhokha could rake in the moolah from the box office. Keeping in mind the fact that the Bhatts, Mahesh and Mukesh, are known to go into a overdrive for all their films, it is surprising that they are keeping virtually mum about their forthcoming release Showbiz, which releases on the last Friday of the year.
Even though Showbiz marks the directorial debut of choreographer Raju Khan along with newcomer Tushar Jalota, there does not seem to be any buzz. Mrinalini Sharma, who was last seen in Bhatt's Awarapan, is the leading lady opposite Tushar. According to Mukesh, there is no point in promoting the film a month or before the release when a better impact can be created in 10 or 12 days. According to Mukesh, they are in a mood to experiment with Showbiz. He also quotes the example of Saawariya and says that all the hype and promotion did not lead to anything. He would rather let his film do the talking. Since Vishesh Films have always managed to create a stir, one wonders whether Showbiz will have that same effect or not. According to Mukesh, however, Showbiz too will have its share of news. The film is all about how the media invents news and it has Gulshan Grover playing a powerful news baron.
