Mumbai: Aamir Khan’s Taare Zameen Par will be released in multiplexes across India after 2:00 pm (IST).Friday Dec 21 2:15 PM
The releasing of the film was initially delayed due to profit sharing disagreement between the distributors and multiplex exhibitors.
The other release of the week, Akshay Kumar-starrer Welcome, is still not being screened at multiplexes across the country.
According to reports, the distributors are demanding 50 per cent profit of ticket sales in the first two weeks of the film's release. However, the mutliplex owners haven’t agreed to the deal.
As of now, both the films are being showcased at single screens.
Taare Zameen Par however, will be released across PVR multiplexes as well as the film has been co-produced by the company.
The film was also banned in a Vadodara multiplex because of protests by a body called the Sardar Patel Group. The members of the group staged a protest outside the INOX multiplex that was all set to screen the film.
Pulling down posters of Taare Zameen Par and raising slogans against the superstar, the protestors demanded that Aamir apologise for his statements that he had made earlier in support of the Narmada Bachao Andolan.
