WELCOME has been declared a hit and is only moving its way up in the ladder. Of course the film's director Anees Bazmee is a thrilled man."People questioned me if releasing one more Akshay film in 2007 was a good idea considering he had just been exposed a lot to the audience with two back-to-back superhits HEYY BABYY and BHOOL BHULAIYAA", he reflects.
"Some trade people had a logic that in 2005, soon after the success of GARAM MASALA, Akshay's next film DEEWANE HUYE PAAGAL lost out as audience was getting tired of similar antics. Well, I didn't agree with the logic."
"For me, a good film is a good film", says Bazmee confidently, "We all were quite sure about WELCOME hitting the bull's eye. On the contrary, we truly believed that with Akshay on the roll, it would only benefit the film further. Also, he along with Katrina had given 2007 its first bona fide hit with NAMASTEY LONDON. Quite a coincidence that last major hit of 2007 also features the two of them, isn't it?"
"Audience is going back home only to return again to catch the film once more with friends and families; what else would I want", signs off Bazmee.
