Now that would have had you breathing deeply but we are only talking about the number of films that will have their inaugural Pooja on Pongal day and the astonishing part is that they will all have one producer Pyramid Saimira Limited.
While speaking to the press, its chairman Natarajan had expressed his regret over distributors who had threatened to boycott films from the Pyramid Saimira stable as they felt corporates were eating into their profits and that they cannot survive in the industry for long if this trend was to continue. Distributors had aired their grievances a few months ago itself that the corporate production houses demanded much higher sums as MGs for the release of their films and this has reduced their chances of gaining profits from films a high risk affair.
Natarajan tried to clear the fog over this issue by claiming that they were actually people from the industry itself, ones who have toiled and lost a lot of money in their efforts to produce movie and their turning corporate was merely an attempt to professionalize their organization. He even assured that their approach will be to revive good cinema and not purely commerce driven.
Their experience in the industry has come in good for them and they intend to use the funds generated from their productions to revive quality movies that are lying in the cans due to their inability to find a producer. He said that they have even constituted a committee for this purpose to analyze those films that are stuck due to lack of funds and shortlist them based on the quality of their content so they can give these films a new lease of life. Now that’s a noble effort that’s come as a shot in the arm for aspiring filmmakers.
