Luck one day inspired him to come back to Mumbai where life was waiting for him with hampers full of blessings and bounties Akshay who had never ever dreamt of being an actor started seeing dreams of being an actor. He joined Jayesh Seth, a well known photogra¬pher who took pictures of stars and Akshay held his lights for him Till one day he decided to get himself photographed and his friends said he looked good, he could try. He walked around with those photographs like any other struggler, from studio to studio, from producer to producer, from director to director Some said "kuch karte hain", others said "kuch karenge, milte rehna" and still others said "office mein peon ke paas photo chhod dena, bula lenge" No one called but he never gave up till one morn¬ing he reached the office of the Late Pramod Chakravarty, the maker of very big hits 'Chakkida' had left for the day and anyway he had lost interest in making films the way they were beini made

Luck asked Akshay to leave some photographs with 'Chakkida's' oldest assistants. The next morning and the whole of the next day 'Chakkida' kept looking at those photographs. The same evening he carried those photographs home, showed them to his wife, his grandson, his cook, his gardener and his watchman He asked them their opinion about the boy in the photograph and they were all unanimous, they all said the boy was better than all the star- sons. The dormant filmmaker in 'Chakkida' suddenly woke up, he reached office early the next day and sent for the boy (Akshay). The boy came, 'Chakkida' saw him, he liked him and he signed him on the spot 'Chakkida' came back as a director and gave Akshay and Karisma Kapoor their first breaks in a film called 'Deedaar' Soon word about 'Chakkida's discovering a new boy spread in the industry and filmmakers showed interest in him.

He signed a number of small film but not one of them were films that could make him stand on the 'Khiladi' series of films hit the screens And by the time the last of the 'Khiladi' films were released Akshay Kumar was accepted as an action hero but he now wanted to be a star-actor. He did two films under the Yash Raj Films ban¬ner, especially 'Dil To Paagal Hai' directed by the master, Yash Chopra himself What more could he ask for now? What more dreams and desires could he hope to fulfill now?

There were many and there are many more to come in the time to come Akshay, the boy from nowhere is one of the big¬gest and the busiest stars in Hindi films today He has no dates for only God, time and he knows for the next few years, at least And filmmakers are willing to wait for him after paying him all his money and even willing to wait to just narrate the stories of their films to him Akshay is a star who can bring in the audience which is slowly going away and that is what ultimately matters to all the filmmakers waiting for him with bags full of money only for him.
