Informa India brings the Hollywood Film Institute's famed '2-Day Film School' to India for the very first time in early 2008. This is the premiere film school of its kind in the world, and is conducted by Dov S-S Simens. Simens - voted America's #1 Film Instructor - condenses four years of film school theory and education into two days of essential and practical facts and information. It's a no-hold barred, rapid fire weekend designed for anyone from first-time filmmakers to established industry professionals seeking a fresh perspective on the realities of the film business.
Graduates of the 2-Day Film School - including Guy Ritchie, Will Smith, Quentin Tarantino and Queen Latifah amongst countless others - have gone on to produce and direct films that have grossed over $8 billion at the box office, achieved 87 screenings at major film festivals such as Cannes and Sundance, and earned 8 Oscars and 22 Emmys. "I thought I knew filmmaking but my partner-agent had me attend the 2-Day Film School...and now I really do", said Hollywood Superstar Will Smith, after attending the course.
"The 2-Day Film School carries significant resonance in India, where we have a large number of talented, aspiring film-makers and industry professionals who have very limited access to the information and peer-to-peer contact that can help them launch or further their careers", says Abhaey Singh, Managing Director of Informa India. "We believe passionately in the value and utility of the 2-Day Film School, and are delighted to hear of its extremely positive reception in India".
Covered by media partners Sony Entertainment Network, Sony PIX, TimeOut Mumbai, Glamsham.com, Broadcast and Film and Animation Today, the event will be launched early in the New Year. Strictly limited places are available at the 2-Day Film School, which will take place in Hyderabad on the weekend of 29th - 30th March, and in Mumbai on 5th - 6th April.
