Melbourne, Jan 05 (ANI): Singer Natalie Imbriuglia and her hubby of four-years, Silverchair frontman Daniel Johns have announced their split.

The couple, who wed on New Year's Eve in 2003, cited their demanding careers and distance as the reason for their break-up.

In a joint statement, they insisted that the split was amicable and that they remained friends.

"While we are very sad that our marriage has ended, we want to make it clear that our parting is amicable and we remain friends. This mutual decision has not been taken lightly or quickly," News.com.au quoted them, as stating.

"However, our career demands and our lives in different parts of the world have brought us to the point where unfortunately this difficult decision was necessary for both of us. We have simply grown apart through not being able to spend enough time together."

Imbruglia and Johns first met backstage at a Silverchair gig in London but got together only at an ARIA awards after-party at the Gazebo Hotel in 1999. (ANI)
