This is for those who think that it is actors who are acting pricey these days. In fact, some of the directors beat actors hollow in this department. Some well known directors with a few hits behind them are charging the moon and getting away with it.
According to source, not only are some directors asking for hefty fees but also demanding a share of the profits. Producers are left with little choice but to agree to their terms, after all a good director can ensure a hit, with or without big stars. Priyadarshan seems to leading the heap, thanks to his last hit Bhool Bhulaiya. He is said to be charging something to the tune of Rs 11 crores for each film. Needless to say, he has many takers. Close on the heels is none other the recently resurrected director, David Dhawan, whose sagging career has received a boost from the hit Partner, is apparently charging anything between Rs 10-11 crore for each film. Anees Bazmee, the director of No Entry and the latest Welcome, is one of the directors who asks for a share of profits along with his fees of Rs 6 crores. Raj Kumar Santoshi, whose last hit was Khakee, is currently all set with the Ajay Devgan starrer Halla Bol, reportedly charges around Rs 6 crore. The duo of Abbas –Mustan reportedly get around Rs 5 crore, while the Metro director Anurag Basu is happy with Rs 3 crore. So it's not just the stars, these days even the director is the star.
