Wonder if it has something to do with Ashutosh Gowariker's Jodha Akbar and the inordinately long time the film has taken to be completed, but actor Hrithik Roshan is sure that he does not want to do a period film ever again.
In fact, the actor has gone so far as to turn down Shyam Benegal's Gautam Buddha as well for the same reason. It is now believed that Hrithik probably made an exception for Ashutosh and agreed to do the role of Akbar. The actor has gone on to state that playing the role of Akbar was in itself a deviation from the kind of characters that he is used to playing in films like Krrish or Dhoom 2. He said that though it has been his intention to never get typecast in any kind of image, he is clear that he will not do any more period flicks. But Hrithik was all praise for the cast of Jodha Akbar, including Aishwariya Rai, Poonam Sinha and Sonu Sood, for the hard work that they put in. Speaking at the music launch of Jodha Akbar, the actor felt that it was almost like a birthday present from AR Rehman, as the launch was on the even of his birthday. Incidentally, the launch also saw the two old rivals, Amitabh Bachchan and Shatrughan Sinha greet each other with warm hugs. They seem to have called off their cold war. It seems that wife Poonam, who is playing mother to Hrithik in the film, is indirectly responsible for the truce.
