Anil Kapoor who was supposed to play the lead in Percept Picture Company's Johnny Wallker, has decided not to do the film as he does not want to be part of the Percept-UTV controversy. The bigger reason is that he does not want to step into Amitabh Bachchan's shoes.
It may be recalled that Percept Picture Company had announced Johnny Walker initially with Amitabh and Tabu in the lead. The film was to be directed by Shoojit Sarkar. However, after the initial announcement, the film never took off and Percept and Amitabh mutually decided not to work together on this film. But Sarkar went ahead and took the film to UTV and now the film is being made by them with the same team but a different name, Shoe Bite. This irked Percept and they too decided to go ahead with the film with Anil in the lead. However, it seems that late last night, following a meeting, they decided to drop the film. Anil confirmed the news and said that he had made it clear that he would not be part of any film that the Big B was supposed to do. He said that he does not feel right about it. Besides, he added that he was on good terms with the actor and did not want to stir up a controversy. Percept too did not want to go ahead with something that was only creating further confusion. However, the company does confirm that it has documented proof that the film belongs to them. They are waiting for UTV to do the right thing and drop the idea of making the film.
