Exactly two years after the release of MIXED DOUBLES (which arrived on 10th Ferbruary 2006), Ranvir Shorey would be back in a lead role with MITHYA. The film is aiming for an 8th February release.MIXED DOUBLES, a film based on wife swapping and directed by Rajat Kapoor, had done decent business at the box office and had sailed smooth past the safety mark. Incidentally MITHYA too is directed by Rajat Kapoor and this time revolves around a character (played by Ranvir) who wants to become a hero and gets trapped into the world of underworld. However, in spite of the serious theme, the film is presented as a laugh riot with a quirky humor to it.
In between MIXED D0UBLES and MIXED DOUBLE, Ranvir had acted in variety of films but each of them had him in a supporting role. However, whether it was YUN HOTA TO KYA HOTA, PYAAR KE SIDE EFFECTS, SHIVA, KHOSLA KA GHOSLA, TRAFFIC SIGNAL, HONEYMOON TRAVELS PVT. LTD., BHEJA FRY, BUDDHA MAR GAYA, NO SMOKING or AAJA NACHLE, his act in most of these films was appreciated that kept him pretty much in circulation.
Things are continuing to look up well for Ranvir since after MITHYA, he would also be seen in a lead role opposite none other than Mallika Sherawat in UGLY AUR PAGLI.
