Focus on Shaan as Kolkata set to host music carnival

Kolkata, Jan 17 (IANS) Bollywood playback singer Shaan is all set to entertain the music lovers of Kolkata at a daylong music festival to be held here Sunday.

Gaan Mela, a famous musical extravaganza, to be held at Nicco Park Sunday, will feature Kolkata's own man with the golden voice Shaan besides versatile singer Pratik Choudhury and a whole array of Bengali bands, from Fossils, Lakkhichhara and Bhoomi to Cactus.

Private telecom service provider Tata Indicom is organising this special musical event.

Be it modern songs, folk, pop or the latest rage of Bengali youths, Bangla Rock, the event has it all to enthral the music lovers.

The eight-hour-long concert would begin with the popular Bengali bands such as Fossils, Lakkhichhara, Bhoomi and Cactus. The audience can also enjoy the performance of versatile singer Pratik Choudhury.

The musical evening will come to an end with the performance of Shaan, which is the main attraction of the event.

To be anchored by RJs Arnabi and Rupsha, the invigorating on-stage performance of different artists will be interspersed with the glitter of SFX, Laser Show and attractive audio-visuals.

'The city loves music, which made us to host this Gaan Mela. Various genres of contemporary Bengali and Hindi music will be showcased in the mega event,' Sanjeev Khera, eastern region head of Tata Teleservices, said here Friday night.

'We plan to make this an annual event in Kolkata's music calendar,' he added.
