Mumbai: It is going to be a treat for those who look for innovative music. Friday Jan 18 2:26 PM
The soundtrack of the forthcoming comedy Sunday has six tracks, each composed by a different composer and non of whom carry a filmi tag.
The title track Missing Sunday, peppered with hip hop has been sung by Mahua- the ex VIVA girl who herself was missing from the music scene for a while.
To her, this track composed by Sandeep Chowta is a great way to start again.
"I think the song's been composed brilliantly by Sandeep Chowta who works very hard to create a song for a singer,” says Mahua.
The soundtrack also has a dance track orchestrated by Raghav Sachar.
And a club number Kashmakash by Shibani Kashyap.
For both these singers, composing for a joint album has two sides of a story- both good and bad.
"I think it is fabulous exposure for someone like me every time a soundtrack like this has worked well for me,” says Shibani.
“These soundtracks sometimes come in the way of our personal signature style. I would prefer to give the whole music of one film than this,” says Raghav.
The album also features a bhangra number by Daler Mehndi, and a romantic song by Pakistani band Suroor.
The producers of Sunday consider the mixed bag a safe bet to draw in listeners.
“Every song fits perfectly to the situation. And it will work out due to the variety,” says producer, Kumar Mangat.
And the strategy has worked too. Sunday's title track is fast catching up on radio stations.
