Bangalore: Music lovers in Bangalore got more than just good old rock and roll on Friday night. The Royal Stag rock show that was held at the Palace Grounds had a thick dose of Bollywood magic with heartthrob Saif Ali Khan skilfully strumming his guitar.

Rock music fans of Bangalore were eagerly waiting for Friday to witness the highly publicised Royal Stag rock show by popular bands like Strings and Parikrama, but instead what they got was a taste of Bollywood.

Pakistani rock band Strings were the first ones to take on the stage. They played non-stop Hindi film numbers, from Sholay to Shaan and from Rocky to Don.

Then came the popular Indian rock outfit Parikrama. Though they didn’t have Hindi music to offer, their lead guitarist was none other than Bollywood’s blue-eyed boy, Saif Ali Khan, who did a good job strumming and wooing his female fans!

“When you play with a group as talented as Parikrama and when different loud sounds like electric guitar and keyboard merge together to form music, it is really an exhilarating feeling. It is fantastic if anyone gets any pleasure out of that, but I myself get a lot of pleasure out of playing it,” said Saif.

The concert had some surprise guests too. Cricketers Robin Utthappa and Srishant took time off to enjoy some live music. Both the cricketers were invited on the stage by Saif and gifted a guitar each.

“I am excited to be here at the Royal Stag concert. They are always good fun, and they always promote a lot of good music, which is fantastic,” said Utthappa.

Srishant said, “It is always nice to listen to any kind of music and that to anything happening on the Palace Grounds.”

However, as expected, Bangalore music lovers were either happy to witness the Bollywood-centric concert or upset to miss out on some good rock music that was promised. Most of them said that even though rock and Bollywood don’t go together, they enjoyed the show.

It seems that the idea of inviting Bollywood’s Chhote Nawab to pull the crowd and it worked.

The rock show was as Bollywood as it could get. But as long as people of Bangalore are not complaining, we are not complaining either!
