After developing fictional underworld dramas like Sarkar and D, writer Manish Gupta has decided to go real. He is making a film based on a serial killer, called Stone Man. The film will be produced by Bobby Bedi's company Kaleidoscope and will feature Kay Kay Menon, Arbaaz Khan and Rukhsar.
According to sources, Gupta has mixed two stories, the one about Raman Raghav, the serial killer of the 1960s, and the recent slasher nicknamed Beer Man. But Gupta says that his film is based on the neither of the above but on the Stone Man, a serial killer who was on the prowl in and around Sion Hospital during the 1980s. The first-time director has done full research on his subject and claims to have visited all the 12 sites where the Stone Man killed his victims in 1983. The Stone Man was never captured despite Mumbai Police's intense efforts. Gupta has completed the shooting of his film. Menon plays a suspended cop on the trail of the killer, while Arbaaz plays an official assigned to track down the killer. However, the director refused to divulge the name of the actor who is essaying the role of mysterious murderer.
