Rajat Kapoor is one of the few directors who can claim to have one of India's finest actors, Naseeruddin Shah, in all of the films that he has directed so far. The talented actor has been in all of the director's films, beginning from Raghu Romeo, Mixed Doubles, and will also be playing a major role in his forthcoming film Mithya.

According to Rajat, when he wrote the script for Mithya around 10 years ago, he could raise the money to make the film. At that time, he had written the film with Naseer in mind for the lead role. But now that he has finally found a producer, Naseer does not suit the main character any more. Ranvir Sheorey has replaced him. But since Rajat cannot imagine making a film without Naseer, the actor has agreed to do a supporting role in the movie. He admits that Naseer has been a big support to him all through. In fact for the lead role of Mithya, he would have loved to have cast Saif Ali Khan. But he is quick to clarify that it is not his intention to put down Ranvir, who has done a brilliant job, he feels. Rajat is also all praise for Neha Dhupia performance in the film. He says that she has put in a brilliant performance in the film along with Vinay Pathak. He is very happy with the way the film has turned out. Mithya is the story of VK, who has big dreams to chase when fate makes him a pawn in a master gameplan of the underworld.
