Vadivelu’s magnum opus, Indiralogathil Na Azhagappan, is all set to scorch screens across Tamil Nadu with its release on February 1. The film, Vadivelu’s second outing as a hero, is a mythological, where we find the comedian playing three different roles: Lord Indira, Yama and common man Azhagappan. The film, produced by Seventh Channel’s Manickam Narayanan (who earlier gave the superhit Vetaiyadu Vilayadu) is directed by Thambi Ramiah. Music is by Sabesh-Murali. Gopinath, who has worked in films like Ghilli and Dhool, is the cinematographer. The film is special for many reasons. For the first time, one can get to see Vadivelu in 14 different roles, the highlight being a 90-year-old man. The actor also put on weight to play the role of Yama and had to perform the role adorned by jewels weighing about 50 kg. Actress Shriya has performed a sizzling item number that is bound to be a treat for the viewers. The sets by ace art director Thotta Tharani have already been receiving much appreciation from people in the industry. Particularly, the Yamaloga set has come out very well and is sure to scare every one, say unit sources. The music of the film has been steadily climbing up the charts. Vadivelu is all praise for the composer duo, who the actor says, has come out with three different kinds of soundtracks for the three different worlds. The film is being released with over 200 prints all over Tamil Nadu and has been in much demand from producers in the southern districts where Vadivelu has a massive fan following. Theatres are already moving out the Pongal duds to accommodate more screens for this film. For an actor who doesn’t have any fan club, the film’s opening is expected to equal that of the leading heroes in Kollywood. “I don’t have any fan clubs. Every member in households across Tamil Nadu enjoys my comedy and each one of their homes is my ‘rasigar mandram’,” says Vadivelu. The actor says that he did not accpt any films for 6 months to concentrate on this one. The actor, who will be going back to playing comedy tracks, concludes by saying that he hopes to do such films every two years to provide wholesome entertainment for the whole family.
