If director Rajat Kapoor had his way, his upcoming directorial venture MITHYA would have seen the light of the day close to a decade back!A piece of information to have just come in is that Rajat Kapoor, the maker of films like RAGHU ROMEO and MIXED DOUBLES, had the script of MITHYA ready with him for nine years. The reason he had to abandon plans for MITHYA and instead opt for other films was that in those days there were hardly any takers for a subject like MITHYA.
A quirky comedy which has an amalgamation of Bollywood and underworld told through a comic narrative, it has a brand of humor which has finally come to an acceptance amongst today's audience.
Rajat Kapoor confesses that a decade back it was a difficult task to raise money for a venture like MITHYA. However, with the market situation changing in this side of the century, he had the liberty (and a willing producer) to go ahead and realize his dream.
Produced by Arindam Chaudhuri of Planman Motion Pictures, MITHYA, which releases on 8th February, stars Naseruddin Shah, Neha Dhupia, Ranvir Shorey, Harsh Chhaya, Saurabh Shukla and Vinay Pathak.
