After his last film, Provoked, starring Aishwarya Rai, Hollywood-based, Indian filmmaker Jagmohan Mundhra has taken up yet another sensitive issue in his latest movie 'Shoot On Sight.'
The film is about the West's perception of Muslims following 9/11.
The movie's take-off point is the order passed by the London Police to shoot suspected terrorists after the London subway bombings in July 2005. The story of the film has been written by Mundhra himself and he has managed to rope in Naseeruddin Shah to play the protagonist in the movie. The story revolves around Shah, who plays a Lahore-born, Muslim officer of Scotland Yard and the situations that he finds himself in when asked to investigate a police shoot-out of a suspected Muslim terrorist. The character finds himself in a tight corner as he is not trusted by his superiors and by his fellow Muslims. How he confronts the truth is what the film is about, says Mundhra. The filmmaker promises that he will be taking a balanced view of the subject. Essentially, the film is a thriller, he adds. The film is produced by New York-based businessman Aron Govil. Besides Naseer, the cast also includes Om Puri, Gulshan Grover, Laila Rouass and Greta Scacchi. The film is set for a worldwide release in March.
