Mumbai: PVR Pictures kick started their film production venture with the thumping success of Taarein Zameen Par, which is perhaps why their decision to produce a film made by a newcomer came as a pleasant surprise. Friday Feb 1 4:25 AM
It’s been a long-cherished dream for documentary filmmaker Madhureeta Anand to make her first feature. Therefore, it doesn't come as a surprise that her film, Mere Khwabon Mein Jo Aaya, delves into the space of dream turning to reality.
She's won awards and travelled the world while making documentaries for National Geographic and the BBC — but a Hindi film? Obviously, the decision meant scouting around for finance and walking the Bollywood path for Madhureeta Anand.
"I was often perceived as too intelligent for Bollywood. So I had to keep convincing producers that I can, indeed, make a film in Hindi," Anand says.
And after three and a half years of working on her dream script, Madhureeta finally tied up with PVR Pictures to make her directorial debut with Mere Khwabon Mein Jo Aaye.
"My film is about how you can get what you truly dream about, and what you really want to get," Anand explains.
Starring Raima Sen, Randeep Hooda and Arbaaz Khan, and shot for most parts on a multicolored set, the film's theme seems to rule its making.
"Madhureeta is completely in control. She knows what to do, and she gets us do everything right," Hooda says.
Talk about method acting and the actors of Madhureeta's film have certainly learnt what it takes to be musicians. So while Randeep learns to play the flute, Raima wants to perfect the keys of the harmonium. Truly, a lot of effort for one woman's celluloid dream to come true.
