Fourteen years after Bandit Queen, Shekhar Kapur is all set to return to Hindi cinema. According to sources, the director is keen to revive his dream project, Time Machine.
The futuristic film was abandoned halfway in 1992 due to a lack of finances. Aamir Khan had shor considerably for the film that also featured Rekha, Raveena Tandon and Naseeruddin Shah. According to sources, Kapur has signed a two-film deal with UTV for Time Machine and Paani. The latter will commence in the second half of the year. But UTV is quite tightlipped about the deal. A couple of months ago, it had been reported that Shekhar wanted to revive Time Machine with the original cast. Then it was reported that since he needed time for his international projects, he had decided to hand it over to Aamir to produce. But since the actor was very busy with his directorial debut, Taare Zameen Par, Kapur took back the project which is very close to his heart and has now decided to go ahead with it himself. According to sources, Aamir will no longer be a part of the project as he is busy shooting for the Ghajni remake. It is believed that Kapur is very keen on casting Ranbhir Kapoor but is yet to approach him.
