Adeel, a young Pakistani singer out to try his luck in acting and singing in India, says actors like Akshay Kumar can today afford to take risks by doing comedy, action, and romantic roles because of the hard work they put in their initial years to establish themselves.

Adding that he was happy to be working in the city of his dreams, Mumbai, this 23-years young man who also plays both the piano and the guitar told that as far as acting goes, he said it would not make a difference whether he is asked to appear as the main character or a negative character which he finds equally challenging. But he will select films that come from the heart, irrespective of the genre or language to which they belong.

Adeel has recently recorded his first Indian album 'Koi Chehra' released by Tips said he was equally at ease singing in Urdu/Hindustani and Punjabi.

He has also rendered the title song in the Manoj Bajpai-starrer JUGAAD made in the backdrop of the sealing drive by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi

He said he had been interested in singing from childhood but had tried his hand at getting into medical college because 'parents in India and Pakistan always think engineering or medicine is the best professions'. Noting that his parents had given him full support when he opted for music, he said everything was ruled by destiny.

Failing to get into medical school, he had become a model and had even become a brand ambassador for Pepsi Cola, even as he pursued his passion for singing. He had so far recorded only two songs in Pakistan and decided to try his luck in Bollywood which he feels is a bigger market.

Born into a highly educated and cultured family in Pakistan on 15 June 1984, his eldest brother is a doctor and his middle brother graduated from a leading Canadian university. He first realized his passion for music when his father presented him with a keyboard when he excelled in his school exams. "I was soon a star in school, performing for all school shows. By the time I reached college, I had formed a band called 'Rooh' in Islamabad and we were committed and successful performers, not allowing music to come in the way of studies however."

It was in 2003 as brand ambassador for Pepsi that he first came to the city of his dreams, Mumbai. "As a youngster I was completely besotted by Bollywood films. That was my destination - the ultimate Eastern citadel of the Dream Merchants. And the ad film was directed by none less than Prahlad Kakkar."

Adeel believes in Sufism and romance. Musically he believes in all world styles, is a devotee of the music of Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, A R Rahman and Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy. Singers Sonu Nigam and Enrique are his idols.

'Koi Chehra' connects to the aspirations of a young man - connecting to people, to love, to life, joy and finally to the Maker. It is a beautiful fusion of feeling and philosophy emerges in the lyrical content.
