Venkat Prabhu became one of the hottest directors in Kollywood overnight after his debut directorial venture Chennai 600028 went on to become an unprecedented hit.

His next project, Saroja, is the talk of the town at present as there are huge expectations that this film would also be a hit with the youth.

Most of the actors of Chennai 28 are also part of Saroja, which will feature two heroines. Since one of the female lead roles had already been bagged by Veda earlier, fans wondered who the other lead would be: it turns out now that Venkat Prabhu had his eye on Kajal Agarwal all along -he’s just signed her up for Saroja.

Kajal Agarwal, a Bharathiraja find, was a little upset when the film Bommalattam in which she stars was delayed. Though debuting under a well-established director, the holdup did throw some uncertainty in her career. However, with Pazhani hitting the screens, she heaved a sigh of relief as recognition from Kollywood began trickling in. As an additional bonus for having waited so long for a break in the film industry, she has also bagged the lead role in the Telugu version of Saroja titled Seven.
