New Delhi, Feb 9 (ANI): T-Series has refuted Director of Vishesh Films Private Limited Mukesh Bhatt's allegation over the music rights of a forthcoming Bollywood film, "Jannat".

"A Letter of Intent dated 20.1.2006 was executed between Super Cassettes Industries Ltd. and Vishesh Films Pvt. Ltd. in respect of two films, namely Showbiz and another forthcoming film against a consideration of Rs.1, 11,00,000 for each film," said a statement issued by T-Series.

The statement further said that thereafter the other film was identified as "Jannat".

The said information was brought to the notice of Mukesh Bhatt and Sony BMG Music informing them those music rights of the film "Jannat" were only with Super Cassettes Industries Ltd (SCIL).

The T-Series has blamed that Mukesh Bhatt assigned these music rights to Sony BMG for an amount of Rs.2.40 crores.

Mukesh Bhat has also filed a suit in City Civil Court at Mumbai asking for an order to restrain SCIL from claming to be the owners of music rights of the film Jannat and City Civil Court passed an Ad-interim order in favour of Vishesh Films Pvt. Ltd.

Pursuant to the same, SCIL filed an Appeal from the order of Civil Court in the High Court of Mumbai. SCIL also filed a Suit for Specific Performance, Permanent Injunction and damages against Vishesh Films Pvt. Ltd. in order to safeguard and protect its commercial interest qua the music rights of the film "Jannat".

The Appeal against the order of City Civil Court was adjudicated by the Mumbai High Court vide its order dated January 25, 2008 and consequently, the impugned order of City Civil Court was quashed and set aside. Pertinently, the quashing of the lower Court's order by the High Court was as per consent of Vishesh Films' Counsel. As regards the Suit for Specific Performance, the High Court has posted the matter for final hearing on February 27, 2008 before which date pleadings are to be completed by both the parties, the statement said.
