Well the cat is finally out of the bag. If sources are to be believed, then director Ken Ghosh's yet-untitled musical film, featuring Shahid Kapur and Jiah Khan, has an uncanny resemblance to actor Kumar Gaurav's eighties' hit film, Star.

Ken's film tells the story of a middle class youngster, to be played by Shahid, who goes on to become a music sensation. The conflict arises when he suffers a terrible tragedy and gets into a depression. Eventually he recuperates and hits the circuit again. Kumar Gaurav essayed a similar role in Star, of a successful musician, who loses his voice after witnessing the death of his close friend in an accident. Ken, who teams up with Shahid after Ishq Visk and Fida, apparently has feigned ignorance about the similarity in the two plotlines. He is believed to have said that hardly anyone would have seen Star. He then said that he would first see the film and then comment on it. However, sources maintain that Ken has consciously lifted the plot from the film and has made some minor changes in it. Kumar Gaurav was surprised at the prospect of a remake of his film. So much for originality.
