The premiere of Ashutosh Gowariker's Jodhaa Akbar at Imax Wadala on Thursday night was a grand affair, quite in keeping with the film's format. The event saw industry bigwigs come together and show their support for the director and his cast.

Aamir Khan and his wife Kiran Rao were among the first to arrive. Aamir was there to support Ashutosh, his longtime friend. Incidentally, the filmmaker's birthday coincided with the release of his film. Hrithik Roshan was the next to walk in with his wife Suzanne and mother Pinky. The leading lady, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan arrived with the entire Bachchan clan, including Amar Singh, in tow. Abhishek, who was expected to arrive from Delhi earlier in the day, came straight from the airport. Playing a gracious host was producer, Ronnie Screwvala along with Ashutosh and his wife Sunita. One of the most stunning entries was by none other than yesteryears queen, Rekha. She made her entry just a few minutes before the Bachchans. The cast and crew of the film, including Poonam Sinha, with husband Shatrughan Sinha, and actor Sonu Sood too were present at the venue. There were others from the industry like Shabana Azmi and husband Javed Akhtar, who has written the lyrics for the film. Also spotted were Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Ketan Mehta, Abbas-Mustan, Akbar Khan, Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Deepa Sahi among others. After the curtain call, the entire cast of the film wished the birthday boy, Ashutosh, and an elaborate cake was wheeled in. After the premiere, the Bachchans also organized a dinner for Ashutosh.
