Starring Vikram and Shriya, Kanthasamy is the much-awaited big-budget production directed by Susi Ganesh and produced by Kalaipuli S. Dhanu. The movie has been in the process of being made for quite some time now; the grand scale on which it was launched, has raised everybody’s expectations sky high! The crew has been flying around the globe, shooting in some rather exotic locales and has most recently, landed at Mexico.
Mexico is one of the few countries in North America that has been untouched by South Indian cinema. The Kanthasamy crew was supposed to shoot at Kenya. However, given the unstable political situation in Kenya, the crew had to hunt for a new location and that’s how they landed at Mexico. The Mexican Government proved amicable and highly cooperative, making it easy for the crew to select specific shooting venues in the country.
The Kanthasamy crew was given a red carpet welcome and was met by the Indian Ambassador, the Minister of State and several movie-related personnel at Mexico. The Kanthasamy trailer and Thotta Tharani’s rendition of a logo uniting the national birds of Mexico and India were very well-received. The Mexican dignitaries present at the event lauded the Kanthasamy team on their hard work and spirit.
Following this, the Kanthasamy crew was taken to a studio at Mexico, where they enjoyed a visual feast, the beautiful Mexican National dance. Everyone was particularly impressed with Vikram, who was able to carry off some of their dance steps. His enthusiasm to learn their language and his fearlessness to be trained in bull fighting had everyone amazed.
The Mexican Government is more than pleased to permit the Kanthasamy crew to shoot in their country. This could well be the beginning of a fruitful relationship between Indian cinema and Mexico.
