Mumbai: Realism in Hindi films is quite the fad these days, but casting real life Bombay Municipal Corporation (BMC) workers is an altogether new step. A new film called Mumbai Chaka Chak is doing just that.

These BMC workers shall play themselves in Suniel Shetty's production Mumbai Chaka Chak.

The film is based on the life of a BMC employee who's love story gets lost in the drone of the city. And this endeavour to inspire civic sense will see 50 BMC employees take on a new role — that of an actor.

Joining them are actors Mandira Bedi, Vinay Pathak and Rahul Bose.

Mandira Bedi says, "I am glad a film like this is being made, which is not a documentary and is realistically done."

For producer Suniel Shetty, this interesting cast was the result of wanting to keep the story real.

"No one notices these BMC workers. They always keep cleaning up the city with their work. Who better then them to do this job?" says he.

And the BMC workers are delighted. Says a BMC employee, Manoj, "Arre bahut accha hua. Humhi ko role milega!" ("It's great that we are getting these roles.")

The movie is definitely a worthwhile attempt by Suniel Shetty to give some pleasure out of work to Mumbai's cleaners.
