London, Feb 27 (IANS) Comic actor Will Ferrell plays a former singer who buys a failed basketball team in his latest movie 'Semi-Pro'.
Thesun.co.uk reports him saying: 'I was pretty active at school. I played baseball, basketball and American football and I played seven years of soccer before it was popular out here. That was actually my main sport. I was the weird kid who played soccer.'
In fact, his love of the beautiful game almost led him in a different career direction.
He added: 'I wanted to be a sports broadcaster, and that's what I studied in college. That was my big plan and then I realised that it took about the same amount of legwork to do that as it did to break into acting and comedy so I thought I'd prefer to do that. I had a very slight attempt at the broadcast thing but I was too lazy to pursue it.'
