New Delhi: Protests disrupted the screening of the film Jodhaa Akbar at the multiplex Sangli in Maharashtra on Wednesday morning. Wednesday Feb 27 4:51 PM
Nearly 200 activists of a local organisation brought down the film's posters and raised slogans at the Prime Plaza multiplex.
The screening was stopped.
Police lathicharged the group when it started pelting stones and smashed a police van and eight buses.
A few of the activists have been detained. Six of them were also injured.
“We just won't tolerate this situation. Our police force is stopped from performing its duty. We won’t tolerate it. This country is ruled by judiciary, by Constitution and not by any particular party or religion or any person,” says Superintendent of Police, Krishna Prakash Yadav.
