Aamir Khan recently received a call from the President of India Pratibha Patil's office. However, the call was not for any political purpose but regarding her desire to see the film Taare Zameen Par instead. Not so long ago, Aamir was in Delhi when LK Advani had shown a interest in watching the film.
On Sunday, Aamir went to Delhi and also took along Darsheel Safary, who won the critic's award for best actor for his scintillating performance in the film. The actor showed Taare Zameen Par to the President and her family in a special screening held at the Rashtrapati Bhawan the same evening. According to sources, the president has been very keen to see Taare Zameen Par for a long time but since she was very busy the screening kept getting postponed. Finally, when she expressed her desire to see the film, Aamir was unwell and simultaneously in the midst of the shooting for Ghajini. But Patil's desire to see the film enthused Aamir to fly down to Delhi with Darsheel. Further, when Aamir and Darsheel were on their way to the airport on Monday to return to Mumbai, they received a call from the the President again. She invited them and felicitated them for their performance in their film. She told them that she had liked the film and encouraged Aamir to make many more films with a social message. Aamir later said that he was overwhelmed with the kind of encouragement and response that the President of India personally gave him.
