It's official. Sanjay Dutt has opted out of Sanjay Gupta's film Alibaugh. According to sources in the industry, the actor has made it official and has sent a letter to Gupta, clearly stating that he will not be able to give dates for the film.
In his letter, the actor is also believed to have said that Gupta could replace him with any actor and finish the film. Sources say that Sanju has only shot for about 10 days for Alibaug and Gupta can re-shoot those portions with another actor. However, with the release date set for April, Gupta will have to look for another actor very soon. It may be recalled that the two friends had a fallout after the release of Shootout At Lokhandwala, when Sanju learnt that Gupta had not paid many members of the cast and crew. Currently Dutt has more than a dozen films on hand and is booked till 2010. The actor is shooting right now for Sanjay Gadhvi's Kidnap and will then go and shoot for Sujoy Ghosh's Aladdin with Amitabh Bachchan. Incidentally, Sanju is back go doing his stunts. At age 48, he climbed 21 floors of a under-construction building ton do an action sequence for Kidnap, where he plays the father of a kid who is kidnapped by Imran Khan, Aamir Khan's nephew. The actor apparently climbed 21 floors on the bamboo scaffoldings and refused to use a body double, even though some of the bamboo broke during his attempt.
