New Delhi, March 6 (IANS) Popular TV actor Gautami Kapoor, better known as the new Tulsi of 'Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi', would love to do a glamorous role but only after her stint in the serial comes to an end.

'I would love to do a glamorous role in future. I think it will make a stark contrast,' Gautami told IANS on phone from Mumbai.

Her role in 'Kyunki...' requires her to sport an aged, conservative and traditional look - quite unlike the real Gautami.

'I love wearing dresses, jeans and skirts and I am most comfortable in them. But I often face a major identity crisis in public.'

'Since I look very different when I am off my 'juda' and saree, people take a while to recognise me. But that is how I am in real life,' she said.

In June 2007, when Smriti Irani, who made an indelible mark with her portrayal of the iconic daughter-in-law Tulsi in 'Kyunki...', walked out of the show, Gautami stepped into her shoes.

'When I joined 'Kyunki...', there was no time to speculate over the details of the look of the character. I am really not stuck up with looks,' she commented and added that she had no qualms or reservations about donning a grey haired look on screen.

She, however, agreed that doing a glamorous role along side Tulsi's character would definitely be a shock for people.

'The public identifies a certain look with Tulsi's character. So if I appear in a contrasting look on television, they will find it hard to connect and the character may lose its charm,' she said.

Gautami asserted that it is a bigger challenge for an actor to enact a role which is unlike him/her. She added: 'If I were to look my real self even on screen, it would be no fun.'

Currently, Gautami is quite content with the show and feels that her commitment to 'Kyunki...' is too large to allow her to take on more projects.

'I have been offered roles in crossover films and also to play a lead role in a Marathi film, but I don't have the time for it,' she said.

To somewhat fulfil the wish to look glamorous, she recently shot for a magazine, 'Showtime'.

Gautami is married to Ram Kapoor, who is also among the most established actors of Indian television.
