London, Mar 10 (ANI): The latest celebrity to get a star on 'Hollywood's Walk of Fame' is US TV producer Sherwood Schwartz, the creator of 'The Brady Bunch' and 'Gilligan's Island'.

Still ebullient at 91, he also paid homage to the stars of his popular shows-Dawn Wells and Florence Henderson.

"To me, Dawn will always be Mary Ann on Gilligan's Island and Florence will always be Mrs Brady," BBC quoted him, as saying. Schwartz revealed that it was just "by accident" that he landed in showbiz, by writing jokes for late actor Bob Hope.

With a hope to get a master's degree in biological sciences, he moved to Southern California from New York in 1938. It was his brother Al who got him a job on Hope's radio show so that he could earn some bucks while studying.

"Bob liked my jokes, used them on his show and got big laughs. Then he asked me to join his writing staff. I was faced with a major decision - writing comedy or starving to death while I cured those diseases. I made a quick career change," he said.

Ultimately he opted for TV, and created 'Gilligan's Island' in 1963, which lasted 4 years. And when it ended in 1967 he came up with 'The Brady Bunch', for which he also wrote the theme song. (ANI)
